        The Directions

Head left from the office to the roundabout and take the right facing the mountain on the edge of . Continue up this street until you come to a major dirt road on your left. Stay on this dirt road as far as the church, which should be visible on the hill. The road will first veer right and then veer left before heading uphill to the church. It should take no more than 20 minutes to get to the church. Just before the church, you will see a rocky path to your right heading further up the mountain. Take this rocky path and stay on it for another 20 minutes or so until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork (we didn’t explore the right fork) and stay on the most clearly defined trail you can find heading up the left face of the mountain.

After 40 minutes or so the path should skirt around the mountain, being afforded excellent views of Lake Chamo. From here you can either continue up the back side or the front side of the mountain until you reach the highest peak. The front side offers more impressive scenery of and Lakes Abaya/Chamo, while the backside is more peaceful and adventurous. Return the way you came.

        Top Tips

Take this walk if you’re after some excellent views of , and Lakes Abaya/Chamo.
Try to take stock of your surroundings on the way up as it’s quite possible to take the wrong path down on the return.
The first dirt trail can be quite muddy after the rains, when it would be a good idea to take hiking boots.
