This journey required that we take 3 matatus. The first was easy to collect on the main lake road outside of Fishermans Camp and only cost KES50. This dropped us before Naivasha town to another matatu that claimed to be going to Nairobi. We paid this matatu driver KES250 per person but were shortly dropped off in Naivasha town at another matatu definitely heading to Nairobi. We were told that this 3rd matatu would cost KES200 to the capital and so we tried to organise for the 2nd matatu driver to pay the 3rd and to keep KES50 per person for their short journey into Naivasha town. Of course, in typical fashion, the KES200 price quickly rose to KES250. We paid the extra KES50 per person and then waited for about an hour for the matatu to leave. All in all, the journey cost us KES350 per person across 3 matatus. You could probably do this in fewer stages.
For the best views of Lake Naivasha and Longonot National Park, sit on the left-hand side of the matatu.
Expect to be dropped at Accra Road in Nairobi, which is actually a useful spot if you need to organise onward bus tickets with Modern Coast Express or other companies.
