The Directions

Follow Camp Road (to the right of Muizenberg Park) until you reach a set of steps, which you’ll need to follow up to Boyes Drive. Once you get to Boyes Drive, turn left and pretty immediately on your right you’ll see a trailhead carved out of the wall.

There should be a Table Mountain National Park sign here for Peck’s Valley. Take the immediate right and follow the trail up in between St James’s Peak and Muizenberg Peak. There may be a few deviations, but as long as you stick to the path heading up between the two mountains, you will be fine (if memory serves you’ll take another right and then a left, but it’s quite obvious). It should take no more than 40 minutes to reach the plateaux.

Shortly after reaching the top you’ll come to a four-way junction. There will be a small sign on the floor indicating that the right turn will take you to the and the left will take you to St James’s Peak (where you’ll head later). Follow the trail to Muizenberg Peak upwards for about 20 minutes and then return the way you came. You’ll know you’re at the very peak when you see a white bollard. The views from here are quite impressive!

Return back to the four way junction and cross directly over towards . It should only take about 30 or so minutes between the two peaks. Again, the peak has a white bollard indicating the top (although there is actually a higher portion of St James’s peak set back from the cliff-side viewpoint).

After enjoying the viewpoint, you’ll want to start heading down the mountain. The turn off to go down was a left just before you reached St James’s white bollard. From here it’s a pretty obvious journey down and it shouldn’t take you longer than another 40 minutes. This section of the route is called Bailey’s Kloof. If you’ve taken the right route back onto Boyes Drive, you should see a sign telling you so! To return to Camp Road, follow Boyes Drive until you reach the stone steps again on your left.
