Border formalities shouldn’t take long at all (the Ugandan exit and Kenyan entry counters are right next to each other), though if you’re coming through with a bus company such as Modern Coast Express or Easy Coach from Kampala, expect to wait for a solid hour for everyone to get through.
If you’re in need of the toilet, wait until the Kenyan side unless you’re happy to use (and pay for) a small metal shack. & for money exchange, a small official counter can be found on your left just as you’re leaving the immigration office.
Yellow fever certifications are definitely checked at this border so keep yours to hand.
