Kalinzu Forest Reserve is a worthwhile stop off, especially if you’re heading between Mbarara and Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are a multitude of conservancy activities here but easily the most popular is Chimpanzee Tracking. It’s a worthwhile experience for sure, and far cheaper than doing the same in Kibale Forest National Park and reportedly much more successful than the same experience in the nearby Kyambura Gorge. – Daniel

Although camping here is only UGX10,000, if you’re thinking about exploring the reserve without a guide then be forewarned that this forest is quite thick and the trails quite overgrown.
