Aqaba’s south beach is a good place for a walk or a dip and has excellent views of this country’s contentious neighbour, Israel. Though the beach itself is not world class, there is coral and an OK amount of sea life right off the shore. The water is fairly shallow in places, which helps to create that tropical blue sea scenery. It is still predominately frequented by locals, so there is an authentically Arabian and therefore conservative vibe. – Sarah

Top Tips
In spring the sea here is still surprisingly quite fresh and it is fairly windy, so do expect to be cooled off rather well.
There aren’t many amenities on this beach, apart from men renting snorkelling gear. If you go inland a little there are a few restaurants attached to hotels, such as Arab Divers Hotel, where you can get a meal.
As the sea is fairly shallow in parts it is possible to scratch yourself on the coral (damaging it too). Similarly, there is a guide rope which corners off a portion of the sea; hold it or brush up against it and risk coral rash.
