Head into the park to the left of in the centre of town and follow the paved path heading left along the lakeshore. This path runs for a few kilometres and is often busy with locals washing, reading or entertaining each other with card tricks. Follow this path for as long as you care to before returning the way you came. Alternatively, head inland until you find the road and follow that back into town.

Find the paved path to the right of the Lakeshore restaurant and follow it for as long as you care to. Keep a keen eye out for hippos! Should you wish to return a different way, the lakeside path intersects the road on more than one occasion. Though you may see many locals swimming, doing so is not particularly advised.

Top Descriptions

Though not spectacular, the scenery is pleasant enough on this walk and a keen bird spotter will no doubt see plenty. It is relatively quiet, though the locals that do frequent it seem surprised to see a tourist and react accordingly. There was also a make-shift coffee and khat café and a few boat hawkers. Despite this, it is one of the few relaxing things to do in town.

Top Tips

The path hugs the shore for many peaceful kilometres and is a good spot for bird watching and a leisurely walk.
You will pass a few restaurants (both fancy and simple) along the way that may be worth an afternoon beer, lunch or evening meal.
If you’re after peace and quiet, this walk is less frequented by locals than the .
