Top Tips

As this park is not managed by the government but by Narok County, the regulations here are not so strict. That means that you can probably expect to be allowed into the park a little earlier than the official opening time, and you’ll also see drivers frequently venturing offroad for a closer look.
While it is allowed to do a self-drive safari here, the is so large and criss-crossed with tracks that you’d be hard pressed to get good sightings of certain animals without a guide and radio.
Watch out for the hordes of Maasai women selling souvenirs on either side of the gate.
