Top Tips

Consider taking a very reasonably priced here with . It would be hard to find the falls otherwise.
Do be warned that the hike down and back up to the waterfall is quite steep, and that the tree roots that you must climb over to get close to the waterfall are quite slippery.
It is possible to swim here below the falls and everyone claims that it’s free of bilharzia. Being this fast flowing, it most likely is quite safe – except for the slippery rocks!

Top Tips

This hike is run by the for a very reasonable UGX15,000 per person, which includes the services of a friendly and knowledgeable guide.
You could try to do this hike unguided, but you would be mostly following roads instead of taking beautiful rural paths through the local villages (and stopping at viewpoints of three lakes along the way). Plus, you would probably be charged the same amount upon arriving at the falls anyway.
The sun can be pretty strong on this hike, so do pack plenty of sun cream and a hat if it’s a clear day. Also expect a pretty steep down and up at the itself.

The Directions

This walk is a branch off of the . At the point when you see a sign pointing down a steep trail for the forest walk, continue along this path. Within 10 or 15 minutes you will come to a dirt road. Take a left here and stick on this road for about 20 minutes until you see a sign pointing left for the Top of the World. Take this left turn and follow the trail uphill until you come across the currently under-construction Top of the World Resort. Someone should pop out of the gate here and charge you to explore the resort and to enjoy the views of the lake below.

Top Tips

If you’re not staying at the , you may be charged an unreasonable UGX10,000 to take this path (on top of the UGX5,000 entry fee).
If you’ve time to do the you will be rewarded with similar (and often better) views and much better value for money. This site could most certainly do with a viewing platform.
A room (without electricity) costs UGX200,000 at the currently unfinished Top of the World Resort, should you be interested in staying here.
