This is one of those small, low-key, hodge-podge of a museums. It doesn’t seem too unreasonable to think that perhaps the locals grabbed together the towns junk and treasures alike to make up two floors worth of “exhibits”. Taxidermist animals stand alongside old skis, portraits and glassware. The building, however, does certainly have some colonial charm.

Route:From the , take the main road heading east for about 5 minutes passing a big pink building on your left. You’ll come to a small park on your left also which has some narrow stairs running through it. Take these stairs onto Gogias Tsikhe Street, at which point you should start to see the white flag with a green horizontal line. These flags are painted on trees mostly, and they indicate the trail and should be followed at all times.

(continued):Follow the white and green flags up the path out of town and deep into the pine forest. You’ll walk through this peaceful forest environment uphill for about 30 or so minutes away from town before the path sharply veers left back towards . You’ll still be heading uphill, and you’ll still be following these signs. Shortly, you’ll find a sign pointing left again to the . After a short visit to this , you’ll have to briefly return the way you came before continuing straight beyond where you turned off.

(continued):Still following the white and green flags, you’ll start to come out of the forest and for some time (maybe 20 minutes) will follow an old and rusted water pipeline back towards town. Before you know it, you’ll see the ruined right in front of you. Take a hard left here, still following the flags, and then you’ll quickly be back onto Gogias Tsikhe Street. From here it’s only a couple of minutes down to the .

Top Descriptions

(click on the navigation tab above for detailed directions)
This is a fairly short but pleasant and shady loop hike heading straight out of town and up into the pine-forest mountains, with the impressive as the midway attraction. Although it’s only 5km in total, there’s a fair bit of ascent and descent, and so you’ll need to plan for roughly two hours to complete this with ease.

If you’ve written a description for Borjomi Viewpoint Hike you’d like to share with the community, send it to [email protected] and we’ll post it right here in the directory.

Top Tips

There are no facilities once you’re on the trail, so make sure you bring ample water, a few snacks, and some good footwear too.
Follow the green and white flags at all times. These are painted on trees every 50m or so, and so if you haven’t seen one in a while you’ll know you’re going the wrong way – and it wouldn’t be too difficult to get lost here.
Once at the viewpoint, there is a steep and rocky path down the mountain that looks like it might be the right way. It isn’t, and this way’s quite dangerous due to loose rocks and scree. You’ll need to double back to complete the loop.
If you have any confusion about the route, just pop into the before heading off and Otto should be able to help you out.

Top Descriptions

This viewpoint offers a stunning bird’s eye view down to the town of , the Mtkvari River and the often snow-capped mountain ranges in the distance – on a clear day at least. The viewpoint itself is set on a rocky bluff just outside of a thickly wooded pine forest and can be reach from town in a little less than an hour.

If you’ve written a description for Borjomi Town Panorama Viewpoint you’d like to share with the community, send it to [email protected] and we’ll post it right here in the directory.

Top Tips

The best way to visit this viewpoint is by completing the loop. It’ll take you less than 2 hours, and it’s a very pleasant excursion directly out of the town.
Be careful at this viewpoint as there’s lots of scree and loose rocks to contend with. And though it might look as if there’s a path heading immediately down the mountain from this viewpoint, the terrain is very loose and quite dangerous – and is not recommended. Best to return the way you came and continue following the white flags with the green line.
On a nice day, this is a great spot for a picnic. Perhaps consider bringing one.
