Although only less than 30km from Yerevan, the village of Garni is another world away from the capital city. Sleepy and traditional, and offering fantastic views into the gorge below and the mountains around, Garni village probably wouldn’t be on the tourist map if it weren’t for Garni Temple. There’s little reason to come here otherwise, but you won’t be disappointed you did.

It’s not that easy to get to this village by public transport. The Yerevan to Garni Bus does run, but it leaves only when full and can be unpredictable. The Gai Bus Station that it leaves from is also not the most centrally located.
There are a handful of guesthouses with attached restaurants should you be looking for somewhere to stay and eat, although Garni makes for an excellent day trip from Yerevan.
