Top Descriptions

London may just be one of the most famous cities in the world, so it’s no wonder that it’s also very much awash with colour and culture. The city has so much to offer that many foreigners often visit numerous times and never even venture beyond the capital. And can you blame them? With its modern facilities, beautiful architecture, alluring history, and vibrant dining and party scene, there really is enough to keep you busy for quite some time. But the city does have its downsides, especially with regards to its congestion, poor value for money, and antiquated (though very comprehensive) underground rail network. For some, the city is simply best avoided for the health of both the mind and the wallet, while others (especially residents) might claim to feel bored being anywhere else. – Daniel

Top Tips

Expect London to cost about 25% more than the rest of the country. If you’re on a budget, try to stock up at supermarkets, find a hostel with a kitchen, and walk about as much as possible. Hotels are exorbitantly priced, as are restaurants, but there are some very affordable snacks in cafes and shops.
If you’re using the London underground and have a contactless credit or debit card, use it to enter and exit the turnstiles. It’s much cheaper to pay for transport this way than it is to book tickets at a ticket office or online.
Do try taking a walking tour through the capital if you are able. There are plenty of lovely parks that you can walk through, and most streets aren’t too crowded. If you simply use the underground to get about, the city will no doubt leave you with somewhat of a disjointed feeling.
