Monguí is famed for being one of the prettiest colonial villages in all of Boyaca, and it isn’t hard to see why. It’s a sleepy but well preserved little place with excellent access to the surrounding countryside. There’s not much going on, but it’s worth visiting from Sogamoso to do the impressive Paramo de Oceta Hike if nothing else. – Daniel

Buses from Sogamoso take about an hour and only cost about COP3,000. They’re not particularly frequent, however, so make sure you try to catch an early one.
Hikes into the Paramo de Oceta start and end here and are highly recommended. You can either organise a guide here or pick up one from your hostel in Sogamoso.
There are a couple of small restaurants here serving snacks and breakfasts should you not have had time to stock up in Sogamoso.
