|The Alaverdi Copper Factory was founded in the 18th century and at its peak was reportedly producing more than 10% of all the copper for the Russian Federation. Though no longer employing as much of the town as it once did, this is still an active factory and therefore not a landmark for the public to visit. Nevertheless, the smell of copper fills the air and the smoking chimney and decaying factory are indeed prominent features of the Alaverdiskyline.|
