Top Descriptions

Despite its student population, Bath isn’t as lively as nearby Bristol; some have even described it as a living museum. However, most find the old-boy charm of the place quite pleasant. Wondering around this World Heritage city can be rewarding, especially on a sunny day, with the Royal Crescent, and Pulteney bridge all offering different architectural experiences. There is also a good selection of eateries on offer, and has a higher than average amount of boutiques and cafes.

Top Tips

If you are looking to get away from the busy , there are a few decent pubs on the outer edges of the city along the river.
Parking anywhere in the city is difficult as most roads are permit holders only. Do consider public transport if it is an option.
If you are looking for some weekend live music, Moles (at the end of the ) is a common go-to.

Top Descriptions

Bath Abbey is, in terms of a historical building, quite lovely. Before entering, a trip around the exterior should satisfy most who take pleasure in sculpture and architecture. Inside, the fan vault above is a wonderful example of this type of medieval/early modern architecture. The stained glass is also some of the finest in the UK, matched only by some of the other big Abbey names.

Top Tips

If you can, arrive before 4pm and try to get on one of the 40 minute tower tours. It cost GBP6, but the views over are well worth it!
Don’t forget to take time to admire the exterior of the buidling as well as the interior. The square outside is a popular place for live music and entertainment.
This attraction can become really quite crowded. Try to pop in first thing to avoid the crowds!

On a sunny day, Bath’s historical stone buildings contribute to a sense of having a more sophisticated shopping experience. There are all the typical high street names here, while still offering a fairly broad range of independent boutiques and speciality shops. What’s more, the and are literally just off the main strip of shops! – Sarah

Top Tips

There are times of the year when centre is overwhelingly busy. Try to come on a weekday before the summer season.
There is a winter market held around the every year, in the run up to christmas. It’s quite a pleasant experience.
As with many cities, parking here can be quite difficult. For most, the best option is the big car park at the bus station end of the high street.

Top Descriptions

Authentic in appearance, this little old tea room tucked away in one of lovely cobbled streets seems like an attractive option. However, the inside is quite cramped, and the food is some of that famously over-priced bland British fare that is just downright embarrassing. – Sarah

Top Tips

The jacket potatoes here can be a bit hit or miss (the miss being inedible). Ours was black on the outside and a strange orange colour in.
There are so many eating options in this small area, it would be difficult to do worse than this. Come here for a spot of tea perhaps, but don’t plan to dine here too often.
Thanks to the location right by and around the corner from , this can be very busy on the weekends.
