For the UK, this is probably one of the most scenic drives available. Once you turn off into the national park, you quickly climb up until you’re among great expanses of pastoral land, trickling streams, sparking reservoirs such as and , and the UK’s modest mountains. The nice thing about this drive is that it loops around a portion of the park so you don’t see the same scenery twice. town also offers the perfect mid-point to have lunch and enjoy the or/and viewpoints. – Sarah

Top Tips

If you are not too able bodied (or simply dislike hiking) this drive is an excellent way to spend a few hours in the park.
If you feel you have a bit of extra energy, there is the very accessible en-route.
The second portion of this drive is quieter and perhaps more rural. Don’t be in a rush as getting stuck behind a tractor is a real possibility 🙂

Top Descriptions

As far as reservoirs go, Beacons Reservoir is quite pretty. Lined with trees and rising hills, the greenery surrounding the water here is particularly radiant on a sunny day. The castle watchtower situated on the dam gives an olde feel that is in keeping with the rural location. – Sarah

Top Descriptions

On a clear day, the tree-lined Usk river sparkles as it passes under the bridge this viewpoint is on. Hills rise in the distance, and, ignoring the passing traffic behind you, it is a good spot in to stop and appreciate the surrounding scenery. – Sarah

Top Tips

The Usk river can be very shallow and just beneath this viewpoint may make for a good spot to paddle on a hot day.
Though it didn’t look too fancy when we popped our heads in, there is a pub just before the bridge which has a garden by the river.
This a very active bridge, so do be vigilant of traffic when crossing between sides to enjoy the views.
