What are the numbers and averages?
First built in the 9th century, Rabati Castle stands proudly on a hill in the middle of Akhaltsikhe city. A somewhat odd mix of old and new (and of Christianity and Islam) this recently renovated site makes for a leisurely way to spend an hour or so. Don’t expect to find too much detail on the inside, though this site does offer a few good facilities such as restaurants, tourist information, and even a hotel.

Consider visiting here on the Borjomi to Vardzia Cave Monastery Tour.
This site offers very good views of Akhaltsikhe from a variety of walls and towers, many of which can be climbed and explored.
Watch out for the dogs that hang out around here as they can become a little too excitable (and bitey).
If you’re visiting in the off season, bring ample clothing as it can get quite chilly here – especially in the morning.
