Top Descriptions

Starting from the rather disorganised and chaotic bus station in central , this is a long journey cutting right across the country. As buses in this part of the world go, the service could certainly be worse, but don’t expect much in the way of on-board facilities – and there aren’t really any stops or breaks to mention either.

Top Tips

The at Accra Road is not an efficiently run operation. As there is only space for one bus to be loaded at a time, you can expect to be delayed behind buses to Arusha, , and Nakuru. There is no seating or toilets at the bus station either.
There is only one short stop on this journey, and that comes at about 1pm. You will have about 20 minutes to wolf down some food and go to the toilet.
Traffic leaving and going through Mombasa can be horrendous – mainly due to industry and the trucks that supply it. Sometimes the road is also only one lane, or made of dirt.
This bus also stops in on request.

Top Tips

Expect to have to walk around for at least 40 minutes if you’d like to see all the viewpoints of the falls.
There aren’t exactly any safety rails, so do be careful when close to the falls – you would not want to fall in!
Do make sure you walk up to Baker’s View to see Uhuru (Independence) Falls, a sister falls which was created during the great flood of 1962.

Top Tips

Don’t expect to see as much on this safari as you would with the . The situation isn’t helped by the tall grass and patches of forest you’ll pass through. However, you can expect to see large herds of kob, buffalo and hartebeest.
Roll up your windows as you enter the forest – the tse-tse flies are hungry!
Keep an eye out for the patas monkeys that inhabit this area. These types of monkey can only be found in the savannah
